Rubedo: 2 novembre

Geraldine Eguiluz has been on a roll, performing her work recently at New York City's Vision Festival, and here in Montreal at the Off Jazz Festival, at L'envers, and at Mardi Spaghetti. She`s a great force of nature in performance, and has quickly become an integral and valuable part of Montreal's creative music scene since arriving in Montreal not so long ago. L'envers is happy to present Geraldine's newest work, featuring her voice and four of Montreal's best string players.

Géraldine Eguiluz' s music played by the Rubedo Quintet ensemble is at the crossing of chamber music with a hypnotic, shamanic voice, borrowed elements from formal musical language, harmonic and rhythmic elements of jazz, and elements ranging from afro-american and aboriginal musics to contemporary music. Its sound leads us to unusual zones, anchored in essential, authentic and forgotten human values. Rubedo's intention is to shine a light and bring its listeners toward a particular vibratory space, to travel in a coloured soundscape.

October 27: Hat & Beard playing the music of Thelonious Monk (Résonance Café)
Ken Aldcroft (guitar), Dave Clark (drums) with special guest Ellwood Epps (trompette)

Hat and Beard is a duet who play the music of Thelonious Monk exclusively. Much like Montreal's own Evidence and Stuffy Turkey, H&B are dedicated to the singular music of this American genius, and equally dedicated to their own creative vision. L'envers is thrilled to present them at Resonance Cafe.

Ken Aldcroft (guitar) and Dave Clark (drums) are both longstanding members of Toronto's creative music scene, and have made music with the likes of Anthony Braxton, William Parker, the Rheostatics, and Clark's own Woodchoppers Association.

They will be joined for the second set by longtime friend and collaborator Ellwood Epps, who got his start in the fertile Toronto scene and is also dedicated to the Monk work with his own quartet Stuffy Turkey.

Join Hat and Beard for this night of music full of life, great music, and laughs at the beautiful and warm Resonance Cafe, Montreal's newsest jazz venue.

The show goes on.....

L’envers is excited to announce that our entire October lineup has been successfully saved! We will be presenting these shows in five great venues, and we are actively working on booking our November and December shows and beyond. We hope to see you at a L’envers show soon, starting this Monday night and hopefully continuing for a long long time....

We have no news about our legal situation, and will keep you informed as we find out more.

All events are listed in our calendar on this page, and fb events are coming soon!

Dear Friends;

Due to police interference, L'envers has suspended all performances at 185 Van Horne until further notice. We are actively working on new opportunities for presenting creative music in Montreal, and hoping to lose as few of the shows in our calendar as possible.

If you are an artist who has a show book
ed with us, we will be contacting you very soon.

''Sound that enlighten are infinite.''*

This music is too vital and neccesary to be stopped by the police or anyone else.

----------------------
